Writing at the Thyssen

Elena Aranda’s programme includes practical exercises and activities inspired by the Made in Paris exhibition.

The Museu Carmen Thyssen Andorra begins new synergies around the exhibition Made in Paris. The generation of Matisse, Lagar and Foujita, this time through the union of narrative and the plastic arts, under the direction of the editorial consultant Elena Aranda.

The initiative, which will take the form of workshops, will allow the museum to become a privileged setting for the literary and narrative process, through four sessions that will be held on Tuesdays 3, 10, 17 and 24 May 2022. The sessions, which will last two hours from 7pm to 9pm, will allow assistants to strengthen their writing practice and acquire theoretical and practical knowledge based on the observation of paintings.

The museum’s head of projects, Teresa Areny, explains that “the activities of this new exhibition focus on the main objective of collaborating with entities and professionals in the country. This new project, which we have started with Elena Aranda, unites writing and the plastic arts for the first time, thanks to the potential and the source of inspiration that Made in Paris represents. This illustrates our clear desire to create new views and discover its treasures through writing.

For his part, Aranda explains that “a painting or an object can become the starting point for a story, a poem, a composition, etc. The limits are created by the imagination. The limits are created by the imagination. She adds, “A piece of writing can be born out of a small, telling detail. What happened before or after the captured image? What escaped the frame? What do the people caught in the canvas think? Was his life hard or easy? What emotion does a face convey?

The course is aimed at an adult audience and covers all levels of knowledge. Indeed, the main objective is to provide a personalised service allowing participants to develop artistic and narrative skills in order to improve their creative abilities or to learn about the writing process, starting from “the blank sheet of paper”.
