The Museu Carmen Thyssen Andorra proposes you this week a new visit guided of the exposure “INFLUENCERS in art. From Van Goyen to the Pop Art”.
This week present you the artwork “Lady” by the noucentista artist Manuel Hugué, which takes part of the Colección Carmen Thyssen – Bornemisza.
Manuel Hugué, or met also as a Manolo, was an artist very polifacètic, excelled at fields like the sculpture and the painting, getting influences of the avant-gardes and of artists like Juan Gris and Pablo Picasso, with who boarded friendship. The stays at París and Barcelona made him create an own and personal style among the noucentismeand cubism, so that it became a very popular sculptor in Catalonia.
Manuel sculpted and model several sculptures, predominately realised motherhoods, fun figurines with a primitive air with harmonic forms and rounded, giving importance at the volume. At ending the big war got ill gravely and ended suffering an arthritis that made it abandon the sculpture that had realised until then, adapting at materials softer, but also devoting at the painting and the watercolour.
