“Escenaris. De Monet a Estes. De Trouville a Nova York”

The Museu Carmen Thyssen Andorra opens with the exhibition « Escenaris. De Monet a Estes. De Trouville a Nueva York » (“Scenarios: From Monet to Estes, From Trouville to New York”), a selection of works by some of the great masters of Impressionism, Catalan Modernism, American Impressionism, German Expressionism, Social realism, Cubism, Fauvism, American landscape painting and Hyperrealism, from the Carmen Thyssen-Bornemisza Collection. The works on display reflect the painters’ views in full freedom of expression, in scenes taken from daily life and different panoramas.

« Escenaris. De Monet a Estes. De Trouville a Nueva York » represents the figurative scenario in which the artists found themselves throughout their lives: mental and visual settings they explicitly depicted on canvas. Subjectivity fuses with reality to convey considerably more depth than what is likely to be perceived at first glance. Joy, sadness, concern, serenity, melancholy and fun are emotions we can feel if we stop to look at the paintings and enter into a dialogue with them. These works from the Carmen Thyssen-Bornemisza Collection bring us the experience of entering the mental abyss of the artist, to inaugurate this singular museum in the Principality.
