Ruth Casabella’s conference on “The art of light. The Luminist School of Sitges”.
On 29 October, at 7 p.m., a lecture was given on one of the schools that has influenced Catalan landscape art and its light, the Luminist School of Sitges, an artistic centre that forms part of the current exhibition Talented Painters of the Same Origin. From Rigalt to Puigdengolas.
During the event, the different artists who were part of this particular group of artists who were captivated by the Mediterranean light, and more specifically by Sitges, were discussed, as well as the influence that this landscape has had on their artistic careers. Examples of other artists were also mentioned, such as Eliseu Meifrèn and Ramon Casas, who stopped by to work on light.
Although only active for 4 years, the Luminist School has been an artistic circle which, thanks to the help of Santiago Rusiñol and Cau Ferrat, has become a necessary meeting point for some modernist artists.
We sincerely thank you for your presence and we look forward to seeing you at the next conference.
