The Museu Carmen Thyssen Andorra welcomes summer with a series of activities designed for the whole family

The Museu Carmen Thyssen Andorra is waiting for you to enjoy the summer with activities suitable for all the family. Throughout the month of June, you can enjoy new activities such as the conference held jointly with the jeweller Sílvia Hernández from the company Shiori, which will combine literature and handicraft. You can also take part in the course on accessibility to art, which will be given by Txell Díaz through the Aula d’Estiu 2022 programme of the University of Andorra.

  • Still life in collage
    Saturday 4 and Sunday 5

On Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 June, participants will be able to discover collage, an artistic technique that became popular thanks to Picasso’s Still Life with a Caned Chair, created in 1912. During the workshop Still life in collage, we will propose to recreate a still life with coloured paper, magazines and cardboard.

  • Stories to live
Tuesday 7 June to Sunday 3 July

From Tuesday 7 to Sunday 3 July 2022, the vestibule of the museum will host the exhibition Stories to live, by photographer Chiqui Novis. This is a project by the Associació de trasplantats i donants d’Andorra (ATIDA), which aims to highlight transplant patients and to explain, through images, the personal stories behind each view. The exhibition can be visited free of charge during the museum’s opening hours.

  • What is Art Nouveau?
Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 June

On Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 June, the open-air painting workshop entitled What is Art Nouveau? will allow families to discover one of the great representatives of this movement, Alfons Mucha, and to recreate a work using the gouache technique.

  • Art fet joia
    Thursday 16 June, session 1: 19.00 h – session 2: 20.30 h

As a follow-up to our lecture series, which started this season, on Thursday 16 June, Shiori will present her new jewellery collection inspired by some of the works in the current exhibition Made in Paris. L’Art fet joia is the title of this synergy that unites jewellery, art and literature through Sílvia Hernández and Txell Díaz, an actress. The aim of this event is to bring the public closer to the process of crafting jewellery, and will be accompanied by literary storytelling sessions to evoke times, moments and places.
Two free sessions are planned for this event. The first at 7 pm and the second at 8.30 pm.
*Prior reservation is required.

  • The Nymphs’ Fresco
Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 June

To take advantage of the decorative arts and jewellery theme, on Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 June we will invite families to participate in a large collective mural in the museum’s vestibule. Participants will meet the nymph Hira, a fantastic character from Antonio Muñoz Degrain’s work “The Bath of the Nymphs“, and decorate it with coloured paper and glitter.

  • The who am I of art
Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 June

Finally, the last weekend of June will see the activity The who am I of art ? This workshop is based on the famous game of guessing the other person’s character by asking questions about any physical characteristics they may have. In this version, participants will have to guess who the great masters of painting are. This workshop will end with a painting activity of these same characters so that participants can replay the game at home.
