This is the fourth edition of the Ordino Gardens of Art Prize, which includes new features such as an art market in the gardens of Casa Solariega and an “open-air” workshop for families, organised by the Museu Carmen Thyssen Andorra, a partner in this edition together with the Ministry of Culture.
Both institutions will be part of the jury that will award 3,000 euros and an exhibition to the winning project, and a prize of 1,000 euros to the runner-up. The registration list starts on 15 May and is open to all local and foreign artists.
The event will take place on the weekend of 10 and 11 September and will last all day. The patron of the event will be the Sevillian artist Manuel Luna. The Minor Consul and Culture Councillor, Eva Choy, has highlighted the presence of the artists in order to encourage the exchange with the public, in a weekend that will fill the streets, squares and gardens of Ordino with art.
In the same vein, Teresa Areny, head of projects at the Museu Carmen Thyssen Andorra, stressed the importance of promoting art and culture through collaboration between institutions and the need to involve the family audience as future spectators. The coordinator of the event will once again be Rosa Mujal, director of La Caja, espacios de creación, the organisation that presented the guest artist. Manuel Luna has exhibited internationally and is a member of the Grupo de Realismo Español Contemporáneo (GRECO) and one of the representatives of this pictorial trend. During his stay, in addition to presenting his work, he will offer a workshop to visitors.
All the visual arts have a place in this competition and the candidates will have to present a dossier with their project. The organisation will allocate the space according to the proposal.
