Every week we answer the frequently asked questions that visitors ask us when they arrive at the Museu Carmen Thyssen Andorra.
Today it’s the turn of the question: What do we do when the artworks arrive?
The works arrive thanks to the specialised artwork transporters and must spend at least 24 hours in their boxes before being opened to hang them on the wall.
This whole process is not a mere formality, it is chemically proven that temperature affects the state of conservation of the works since sudden changes in temperature can affect the conditions of the pigments and the canvases.
Once the works have spent the 24-hour period in the facilities of the Museu Carmen Thyssen Andorra, they are ready to be removed from the crates and are examined by the curator of the collection Guillermo Cervera and the restoration team.
