The Fora del marc micro–short film competition was born from the collaboration between the Ull Nu Festival and the Carmen Thyssen Andorra Museum, with the aim of fostering audiovisual creativity and bringing young audiences closer to the world of art.
Based on a selection of works from the Carmen Thyssen Collection, participants are invited to reinterpret them freely and transform them into short, original audiovisual pieces with their own unique perspective. The project seeks to create synergies between painting and cinema.
These rules outline the conditions of participation, technical requirements, and selection criteria.
Submission period: from Monday, January 26 to Friday, April 24, 2026, at 11:59 p.m.
The selected works will be screened as part of the 13th edition of the Ull Nu Festival, which will take place in Andorra la Vella from May 20 to 24.
Conditions:

The maximum duration of the short films is 5 minutes, including credits.

Works may be in the following formats: Fiction / Documentary / Animation / Video Art / Music Video / or others.

The list of selected works from the Carmen Thyssen Collection will be available in the annex to these rules.
Out of Frame Rules Annex -
The director must be under 30 years old at the time the work is produced.

The director must have been born and/or be a resident in one of the following territories: Andorra, Catalonia, the Basque Country, Aragon, Navarre, Occitania, or Nouvelle-Aquitaine.

Works not in Catalan, Spanish, or French must include subtitles in one of these languages.

If a work is directed by more than one person, at least one of them must meet the above requirements.

Jury:

The jury will be composed of representatives of the Carmen Thyssen Collection, staff and team members of the Carmen Thyssen Andorra Museum, and members of the festival team.

The winner of each award will be selected by the jury during the days of the festival.

The jury reserves the right to grant special mentions. It also reserves the right to withhold an award.

All finalist short films are eligible for any award.

Winner: The winning short film will receive a gift from the Museum, three double tickets to Caldea, and the opportunity to screen the film at the new Carmen Thyssen Andorra Museum.

Finalists: Each finalist will receive a gift from the Carmen Thyssen Andorra Museum.
Legal terms:
Participation in the Carmen Thyssen micro–short film competition implies full acceptance of these rules.
The organization will decide on any cases not covered in these rules and reserves the right to modify them if necessary.
The organization guarantees the proper handling of participants’ personal data in accordance with Law 15/2003 on data protection.
The organization reserves the right to use excerpts of the submitted works (maximum 1 minute) for promotional and outreach purposes related to the Festival, in any medium, format, territory, and without time limitation. These excerpts may also be used by third parties with whom the Festival has agreements.
