Art School students of Andorra La Vella, work as copyists at the Museu Carmen Thyssen Andorra

The painting workshop of the Escola d’art del Comú d’Andorra la Vella is moving, again and for a few days, to the Museu Carmen Thyssen Andorra  in a new collaborative action between the two institutions focused on the exhibition KHROMA. The emotional universe of color.

With the aim of learning from the great masters, the students of the Art School have the opportunity to take the class in the museum facilities and reproduce live one of the pieces that make up the exhibition. Over the course of five sessions, therefore, they carry out an in-depth study of one of the works to achieve the challenge of reproducing it by emulating its brushwork and color palette. Apprenticeships for copyists are made under the guidance of the painting teacher at the Art School Helena Guàrdia. This year, four students will participate in the project that will take place every Wednesday in March between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., in the exhibition hall.

This collaborative action adds to those that the two institutions have been promoting since 2020, always with very positive results. From the Art School, in fact, the project is very favorably evaluated, for the great benefits it entails for the students and the possibility it offers them of working around great works in a much more direct way. The Museu Carmen Thyssen Andorra also sees the activity as an attractive appeal for visitors, who have the opportunity to see artists at work while visiting the exhibition.
